Ibiza police checks: 32 drug reports, one weapon
In Eivissa, Ibiza, police record 32 drug-related reports and one concerning a prohibited weapon after checks over the weekend. Officers carry out checks in Figueretes, La Marina and the port, Eivissa City Council says. They also stop 28 vehicles at two road checkpoints elsewhere in the city.
The checks involve fourth-shift officers and a night unit supported by a K9 dog unit from Formentera Local Police. The fourth-shift officers also work with transport inspectors from the Ibiza Island Council.
Road checks find more offences
On Avenida de Santa Eulària, officers issue two reports over child restraints and one for driving with an expired licence. Two alcohol tests are positive, and police remove a vehicle. At a second checkpoint on Ceramista Joan Daifa street, officers issue reports for not wearing a seat belt and for carrying too many passengers.
Drivers swap places after collision
On Felipe II street, a car hits a parked vehicle. The driver and passenger then swap places, and the car continues erratically until police stop it.
Police prepare a case against both people over road-safety offences. The first driver has no licence and records 0.67 mg/l in each of two alcohol tests. The second records 1.04 and 0.95 mg/l in breath tests.
