Mallorca police numbers row: Inca councillor under fire

On Mallorca, the People’s Party (PP) says Inca police councillor Antonia Triguero cannot say how many officers the town has. Its mayoral candidate, Miquel Ferrer, made the accusation on 22 October, a week after his party asked for the figure in a committee meeting. He says Triguero told them she could not give it because staffing had changed.

Ferrer argues that those changes make an up-to-date count more important, not less. He says public safety needs planning and accurate information about the officers available. People in Inca have a right to know what resources their local police have, he adds.

Ferrer wants Inca council to provide the current officer count, say whether any posts are vacant and estimate when they could be filled.
