Police posts and a new security complex

The city plans to include the 50 police posts in its 2027 public recruitment offer. It also wants to equip officers with body-worn cameras. The budget for public safety and civic affairs is nearly €131.4 million, up from about €127.9 million the year before.

A further €4.5 million would move forward the planned security complex in Nou Llevant, with a new local police station and an extension to the central fire station. The plans also set aside €1.2 million for new fire service vehicles.

Sewage works and beach lifeguards

Palma’s municipal utility, Emaya, plans to invest €38.15 million in total. Of that, €23.38 million is earmarked for sewage treatment works, including finishing the first phase of the new Palma II plant and starting the second. Another €4.74 million would go towards renewing water and sewer networks.

On Palma’s beaches, the city has budgeted €2.3 million for lifeguard services. A new contract is intended to bring in more staff and equipment, addressing shortcomings the council identified in the previous one.
