Nearly 200 positive alcohol and drug tests in Balearic traffic checks
Guardia Civil traffic officers identified nearly 200 drivers with positive alcohol or drug tests during roadside checks across the Balearic Islands between 10 and 16 August. The operation covered 3,855 vehicles and resulted in nine reports for offences against road safety.
The checks were staged at different points on the islands’ road network during local festivities and a total solar eclipse, when traffic volumes and journeys were higher. Officers also warned motorists about the dangers of driving after consuming alcohol or drugs.
