Mallorca’s Colònia de Sant Jordi, in the municipality of Ses Salines, gets a €161,628 power cable upgrade aimed at reducing faults on a network serving 4,667 customers. Endesa said on Friday 23 October that it had replaced 489 metres of underground cable beneath five streets.

The cables run through Teresa de Jesús, Mar, del Sol, Marina and es Carreró. Endesa says the replacement should make the network more reliable, especially when demand puts it under greater strain.

Power demand rises sharply in coastal towns such as Colònia de Sant Jordi during the tourist season. Endesa says the work is part of its Balearic Islands investment plan to update the network for current and future needs. The company also says working with public authorities helps it secure approval for and carry out further upgrades.
