Mallorca and the rest of Spain’s Balearic Islands see a familiar name at the top of the People’s Party (PP) list: José Vicente Marí Bosó will again lead its candidates for Congress in the 29 November general election. Nationwide, party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo has changed almost 60% of his lead candidates compared with 2023. Almost 30 of the 52 constituencies have a new name at the top.

The change is clear in Catalonia, where all four PP lead candidates are new. Both constituencies in the Canary Islands also have new names. But the choice facing voters on Mallorca remains Marí Bosó, rather than a new PP lead candidate for the Balearic Islands.

The lists are not yet complete. The PP has still to say who will lead its candidates in Vizcaya and Salamanca, and parties must submit their lists to provincial electoral boards by Monday 26 October. Feijóo plans to bring his lead candidates together in Salamanca on Sunday for a group photograph.
