Menorca PSOE tells PP to report its own council posts
A shopping-voucher video and posts about improvements to the sports hall in Es Mercadal, Menorca, are at the centre of a row over electioneering. On 28 October 2026, Menorca’s Socialist Party (PSOE) calls on local People’s Party (PP) secretary-general Cristóbal Marqués to report the island council, the Consell Insular de Menorca, to the Electoral Board over the posts. Marqués previously reported Ciutadella town hall over an advert he considered partisan.
The council shares the material on its social media accounts, the PSOE says. Council president Adolfo Vilafranca, councillor Maria Antònia Taltavull and local councillor Tóbal Pons, all from the PP, explain official projects in the posts.
The Socialists say Marqués should apply the same standard to the PP-run council as he did to Ciutadella. If he believes publicising official work during an election period can be partisan, they argue, he should challenge it whoever runs the institution.
