Mallorca, Spain: Antònia Roca, the island council’s first vice-president, takes second place on the People’s Party (PP) list for the Balearic Islands in Spain’s general election on 29 November. Menorca’s Joan Mesquida takes third place. Both stand behind José Vicente Marí Bosó, the party’s leader on Ibiza, whose place at the top of the list was confirmed on Tuesday.

Roca oversees culture and heritage at the Mallorca Island Council. The PP says she accepted the place with a commitment to defend the interests of people on Mallorca. Roca says she wants the island’s demands heard in Madrid and will keep Mallorca in mind if she moves to the Spanish Congress.

Mesquida also held third place at the previous election, when he won a seat in Congress. The former hotel director says tackling the housing crisis is his party’s top priority. Cristóbal Marqués, the PP leader on Menorca, says Mesquida’s parliamentary experience and work on housing will help him represent the island’s concerns.
