Mallorca: Inca rejects two PP street information tables
In Inca, Mallorca, the council refuses permission for two PP information tables planned for Friday, 23 October, on Jaume Armengol street and Gran Via de Colom. The party wanted to share information and speak to local people there. It says it will take the decision to the Electoral Board.
The council’s written decision says permits for political tents and information stands should generally be concentrated in election campaigns. Miquel Ferrer, the PP candidate for mayor of Inca, argues that political participation should not be limited to the 15 days of campaigning. Parties need to be able to explain their proposals and listen to people throughout the year, he says.
Ferrer points to municipal rules that allow occasional party information activities at municipal markets. He wants the council to explain whether it considered other ways to allow the tables while preserving the usual use of public space. The PP says it will ask the Electoral Board to examine the council’s decision.
