Palma Airport flights: PP calls for PSIB response
The People’s Party (PP) has called on the Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands (PSIB) to state its position on Aena’s August flight schedule at Palma Airport in Palma, Mallorca. The party said on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, that Eurocontrol had listed the airport among European facilities expected to operate above capacity for up to 18 days this month.
Sebastià Sagreras, the PP’s general coordinator in the Balearic Islands, criticised what he described as the silence of Rosario Sánchez, Spain’s Secretary of State for Tourism and the PSIB candidate for president of the Balearic Government. He said Aena, the airport operator, falls under the Spanish central government.
The PP also urged Sánchez, Fernández and Negueruela to explain their view of Aena’s planning and press the operator to bring its management into line with tourism-containment policies.
Sagreras contrasted the proposed flight activity with measures being pursued by Balearic institutions, including zero growth in accommodation places, a ban on new holiday flats and tougher action against illegal tourist accommodation. He said Aena was planning for more passengers and seeking to expand the islands’ airports.
