On Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, the People’s Party (PP) puts Vox’s Belén Bordils second on its Senate list: the deal draws criticism from two opposition politicians on Tuesday, 27 October 2026. The parties have agreed to run a joint Senate candidacy in each of the four Balearic constituencies. Catalina Cladera, a Senate candidate for Acord de Progrés per Mallorca, and MÉS per Mallorca coordinator Lluís Apesteguia both condemn the pact.

Cladera warns of setbacks

Cladera says the PP is accepting Vox’s demands before any government deal has been struck. In a statement issued by the Balearic Socialist Party, she warns that a government formed by the two parties would bring setbacks for pensions, the minimum wage, public services, welfare, democratic memory and language. She urges people on Mallorca to vote and calls for a left-wing government led by Pedro Sánchez.

MÉS challenges the choice of candidate

Speaking at parliament, Apesteguia criticises the PP for putting Bordils, who is from Valencia, on its Mallorca list. He accuses her of opposing autonomy and the Catalan language and of denying climate change. He says the PP will struggle to explain the pact, accusing it of trading 50 years of political history for a Senate seat.
