Prohens at Poblet as Aragón seeks yearly talks
Balearic president Prohens joins three other regional leaders at Poblet monastery in Vimbodí i Poblet, Tarragona, on 15 October 2026 as Aragón proposes a yearly meeting for the four territories of the former Crown of Aragón.
Aragón’s president, Jorge Azcón, wants the territories to take turns hosting, starting with Aragón in 2027. He puts the plan forward before King Felipe VI, culture minister Ernest Urtasun, Catalan president Salvador Illa and Valencian Community president Juanfran Pérez Llorca.
Azcón calls for dialogue and good neighbourliness. Aragón expects the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) to return the Sijena paintings, but he does not mention them explicitly at the meeting. Instead, he thanks Catalonia’s regional government for helping bring the Poblet gathering about. For Prohens and the Balearics, the next step is Azcón’s offer to host the leaders in Aragón in 2027.
