Mallorca: Prohens honours 41 athletes before cup tie

Mallorca hosts a tribute to 41 Balearic athletes on Tuesday: regional president Marga Prohens will honour them at the Consolat de Mar in Palma, Mallorca. The ceremony begins at 17.25. Later, she will travel to Manacor, Mallorca, to watch the home side play Villarreal in the Copa del Rey.

The event, called ‘Tierra de campeones’, recognises the athletes’ achievements in their sports between June and September 2026. Their families and representatives of invited sports federations will attend, along with Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Jaume Bauzá and sports director Joan Antoni Ramonell. Nil Riudavets will speak on behalf of the athletes before Prohens closes the ceremony.

Club Esportiu Manacor face Villarreal Club de Fútbol at Na Capellera stadium at 21.00. Club president Sergi Muntaner, Manacor councillors and Balearic Football Federation president Jordi Horrach will welcome Prohens when she arrives.
