Balearic debate: PP says Prohens has kept her pledges
In Palma, Mallorca, the People’s Party says it has delivered its election programme as Balearic president Marga Prohens heads into a debate on the islands’ political situation. Parliamentary spokesman Sebastià Sagreras made the claim at a press conference on Monday, 19 October, ahead of the debate.
Sagreras pointed to support for self-employed people and families, and the abolition of inheritance and gift tax. He said the government had tackled the islands’ main challenges without crossing the party’s “red lines”.
He also urged caution over storm Adam. The Balearic Islands have so far avoided its worst effects, he said, but the forecast means weather warnings must remain in place. Sagreras called for “utmost caution” on Eivissa and Formentera, where people have again received ES-Alert messages. He also expressed solidarity with people in the Valencian Community, who he said appeared to have faced the worst of the rain.
