Mallorca: Prohens says growth must mean doing better
In Palma, Mallorca, Balearic government president Marga Prohens calls for growth that creates more value, not simply more activity, on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. Speaking at an economic forum organised by Banco Santander and the newspaper Última Hora, she says the islands have limits and cannot build their future by doing more.
Instead, Prohens wants the economy to draw on more technology, knowledge and sustainability. She calls innovation “a necessity” for changing the economic model.
Prohens says the message is already gaining ground in tourism: the leading tour operators, she says, have adopted it.
