Mallorca: Prohens in London as parliament meets
In Palma, Mallorca, three senior figures miss Tuesday’s Balearic parliament sitting: regional president Marga Prohens and ministers Jaume Bauzá and Joan Simonet are travelling to London for the World Travel Market tourism fair. Bauzá is the tourism minister and Simonet the agriculture minister. Health minister Manuela García is due to report on care services during the sitting.
The session is expected to start at 10.00 with Javier Ripoll taking his oath or making a pledge as a new Vox member, following the death of María José Verdú. MÉS per Mallorca and Vox will then ask the government about the budget, while the Socialists will raise support for vulnerable groups. Water reserves, housing and emergency care are also on the agenda.
García must report how far earlier parliamentary proposals have been put into practice: one concerns services for people with motor neurone disease (ALS) on Menorca, the other healthcare and psychosocial support for people with borderline personality disorder. Members will also debate social and healthcare facilities on Menorca and a proposal to defend the public pension system.
