Mallorca’s Prohens seeks majority after deals collapse
Mallorca, 20 October 2026: broken agreements and lost votes prompt Balearic Islands president Marga Prohens to call for a more stable majority at the next election. Speaking in Palma at the final general policy debate of this legislature, she describes “hard” and “complicated” moments. She says she warned from the start that governing alone would be difficult.
Prohens says her government has still struck deals with other parties: with Vox on tax, with MÉS per Mallorca on joint management of airports, and with the Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands (PSIB) on help with rising prices.
But the biggest structural challenges remain unfinished, she acknowledges. Her government has laid the groundwork for change, she says, adding: “One term is not enough.”
