Port de Pollença protest calls for action on sewage and illegal moorings

Dozens of people joined a Port de Pollença protest on Mallorca on Sunday, 23 August 2026, calling for an end to sewage discharges and illegal moorings along the municipality’s coast. The demonstration was organised by Arrels Marines and began at 10.00 at the Voramar promenade.

People gathered on the beach, where they formed a chain and heard a manifesto warning that the accumulation of problems was robbing the beach of its appeal. The event combined campaigning with family activities, including an inflatable-ring race for children and beach games.

Calls for sewage and mooring action

Arrels Marines called for a master plan for the sewerage system, renewal of the wastewater network and checks to identify leaks behind sewage discharges.

The group also wants an inventory of illegal moorings in the Bay of Pollença. It has urged an assessment of the capacity of a future buoy field and a review of berth concessions to safeguard local residents’ access to the sea.

Measures proposed for the coastline

Among the other demands are a pilot scheme to restore the most damaged stretches of coast and action against boats travelling at excessive speeds.

Arrels Marines also called for a municipal ordinance governing beaches.
