Ibiza psychiatrists handle 5,716 consultations in 2026

Ibiza and Formentera: psychiatrists have handled 5,716 consultations this year, while 318 people have been admitted to the mental health ward at Can Misses Hospital in Ibiza. The Ibiza and Formentera Health Area reported the figures on Saturday, 7 November 2026. Of the consultations, 826 were first appointments and 4,890 were follow-ups.

The hospital admissions took place during the first ten months of 2026. Patients stayed for an average of 16.11 days.

The health area has now hired a psychiatrist specialising in bipolar disorder and child and adolescent psychiatry. That brings its mental health team to 16 psychiatrists, one more than its 15 authorised posts. The health area said some team members work reduced hours.

Eduardo Escudero, the health area’s managing director, said mental health conditions had increased in recent years, making it necessary to adjust staffing and services.
