Ibiza breaks ground on 48 public rental homes in Eivissa
Ibiza is getting 48 public rental homes: construction begins in Can Cantó, in the municipality of Eivissa, on 1 October 2026. Balearic president Marga Prohens lays the first stone at 17 Calle Cubells, the regional government says. The homes are intended for people who live on the island.
Who gets priority
People who can show they have been registered in the municipality of Eivissa for at least ten years will get priority. The government says the same rule will apply to other public housing projects on Ibiza, in agreement with the town council and island council.
The building will have 24 one-bedroom homes, 18 with two bedrooms and six with three. Four will be adapted for people with disabilities, and an underground car park will have 48 spaces.
What comes next
The Balearic Housing Institute, known as Ibavi, is building on land provided by Eivissa council. The work is expected to take 19 months and cost about €9.8 million before tax, with funding also coming from the European Union.
Ibavi is pushing ahead with more than 430 public homes across Ibiza. It expects its stock on the island to grow from 171 homes to more than 600. Another eight public homes are planned at the former Mercat Pagès in Eivissa.
