Rabhi joined a team studying infectious diseases and the immune response. Tortajada worked with a group researching inflammation, repair and cancer in respiratory diseases. She also won a scholarship jointly with Manuel Palomares, who belongs to a complex systems research group. They share the prize money.

The awards are part of Científic@s en Prácticas, a programme designed to bring young people closer to scientific research. During their week at IdISBa, the pupils learned basic laboratory techniques, visited research facilities and worked on live projects under researchers’ supervision. They finished by presenting their work and reflecting on their time in the labs.
