The State Meteorological Agency’s warning runs from 04.00 to 20.00 on Mallorca and from 00.00 to 15.00 on Eivissa and Formentera. The Balearic government will activate the yellow rain alert under its Meteobal severe weather plan on Thursday.

The Directorate General for Emergencies is urging caution. It advises people to secure doors and windows against water and bring in anything outside that floodwater could carry away. It says to stay out of flood-prone parts of homes, such as basements and garages, and remain on higher floors. If flooding occurs, switch off the main electricity supply. Drivers should slow down, keep their distance and use main routes. The emergency number is 112.
