Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, faces up to 25 litres of rain per square metre in an hour on Tuesday: a yellow rain warning starts at 10am in the island’s south and the Serra de Tramuntana. On Eivissa and Formentera, warnings start at 7am, with up to 60 litres per square metre forecast over 12 hours.
Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says the warnings will remain in place all day on all three islands. The Balearic Islands’ 112 emergency service has also activated a yellow rain alert under its Meteobal plan (IG0) and urged people to take care.
