Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, faces a yellow rain warning on Saturday: storms could bring up to 20 litres per square metre in an hour to the island’s north. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says it will issue the warning as unsettled weather spreads across the islands. On Friday, 30 October, Eivissa and Formentera already have a yellow warning for the same possible rainfall, in force until 17.59.

Heavy rain is possible on Eivissa and Formentera on Friday, and Aemet does not rule it out on Menorca. Highs across the Balearics reach 22 to 24 degrees.

On Saturday, a dip high in the atmosphere and a weather front will bring more unsettled conditions, moving from Menorca towards Mallorca and then Eivissa and Formentera. Aemet spokeswoman María José Guerrero says some showers and thunderstorms could be heavy. Temperatures will fall slightly.

Scattered light showers remain possible on Sunday but should ease as the day goes on. Monday looks similar, though winds will be stronger, particularly on Menorca and in northern Mallorca.

Another front could bring heavy rain from Tuesday, mainly to Eivissa and Formentera and western Mallorca. Aemet’s models suggest rain and thunderstorms could last until Thursday, when the gradual drop in temperatures is expected to be most noticeable.
