Mallorca rain and wave alerts as storms and hail loom

Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, faces rain and wave warnings on Thursday, 8 October: heavy afternoon showers could bring thunderstorms and hail. Menorca, another Balearic island, is under the same warnings, Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says.
Moist air arriving from the north is bringing cloud and rain to the islands. Daytime highs are expected to fall across the Balearics. On Friday, strong winds known as the tramontana are forecast for the northern Balearics, with very strong gusts.
