Mallorca rape allegation: Prosecutors seek five years
Five years in prison: that is the sentence prosecutors seek for a man accused of raping a young woman in Palma, Mallorca. A preliminary hearing takes place before the Balearic Islands Provincial Court on Wednesday, 21 October, at 09.30. The allegation concerns an encounter on the morning of 4 March 2025.
Prosecutors say the man contacted the woman, then 21, through a messaging app and persuaded her to go to his home to consume cannabis together. There, they allege, he kissed her, removed her clothes and raped her while she asked him to stop. She has a recognised 54% intellectual disability.
Prosecutors also seek 10,000 euros in compensation. They say the man’s habitual cannabis and cocaine use had impaired his ability to control his actions, and treat this as a mitigating factor. He has already deposited the 10,000 euros sought for a possible civil payment.
