Mallorca: Prosecutors seek eight years in prison for a man accused of raping a woman while walking her home from a bar in a town on the island. He goes on trial before the First Section of the Provincial Court in Palma at 9.30am on Tuesday, 3 November. The alleged attack took place in the early hours of 28 October 2018.

Prosecutors say the woman was walking home alone when the man offered to accompany her. They allege he grabbed her by the neck, dragged her between two cars and raped her. She escaped when he moved away, but he caught up with her at the entrance to her home and continued kissing her, according to the prosecution.

Prosecutors also seek €25,000 in compensation for the woman.
