Palma rape trial: 12 years sought in sleeping woman case

A man goes on trial in Palma on Tuesday over the alleged rape of a woman while she slept. The hearing at the Second Section of the Balearic Provincial Court starts at 10am and continues on Wednesday. Prosecutors are seeking 12 years in prison and €25,000 in compensation.
The alleged attack took place at the woman’s home in the early hours of 30 October 2022, according to the prosecution case.
Prosecutors say the man accompanied her to the property, waited until she fell asleep, then undressed and raped her. He is charged with sexual assault.
