Mallorca will not get rent caps under Marga Prohens: the Balearic president says she will not designate the islands a high-pressure housing area to limit housing prices. At a parliamentary sitting in Palma, Mallorca, on Tuesday, 27 October, she called caps a “failed recipe” and argued for building more homes instead.

Prohens challenged MÉS per Mallorca spokesman Lluís Apesteguia to ask Ada Colau about the policy. According to Prohens, Colau had said she left her flat in Barcelona because she could no longer afford it.

Defending her own housing policy, Prohens said more than 10,000 homes were at various stages and were “for people from here”. She accused her opponents of abandoning middle-income households, families and young people for eight years.
