Palma, Mallorca: rental ads draw an average of 67 contacts each, leaving families competing for the same homes. The figure comes from listings on property portal Idealista in the third quarter of 2026. The portal released its figures on Thursday, 15 October.

Barcelona recorded 92 contacts per ad, compared with 56 in Bilbao and 49 in Madrid. Across Spain, rental ads received an average of 43 contacts before being taken down, up 16% on the same period in 2025. In Palma, the rise was just 1%.

Idealista spokesman Francisco Iñareta says pressure on renters continues to grow. He argues that in places with rent caps, holding down prices while the supply of homes shrinks makes competition worse and pushes lower-income households out of the market.
