Palma at 18.00: Mallorca Researchers’ Night begins

Researchers’ Night starts at 18.00 this Friday at Moll Vell in Palma harbour, Mallorca. Science talks and activities will also take place on Menorca and Eivissa. Doctor Jeroni Galmés of the University of the Balearic Islands and Doctor Amparo Lázaro of the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies will open the Palma event.

The Balearic Islands education and universities department announced the programme on Tuesday. It is part of the European Researchers’ Night, a European Union initiative held in more than 26 countries and 400 European cities to show the breadth of science and its impact on people’s lives.

On Menorca, the Jaume Ferrer Research Station in La Mola will focus on studying the sea and astronomy. In Eivissa, the Archaeological Museum of Eivissa and Formentera will host a talk by curator Esther Pons on Ancient Egypt.

The participating public research centres include the Balearic Oceanographic Centre, the Coastal Observation and Prediction System, the University of the Balearic Islands, CSIC Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies.
