RIU extends child protection code to UK tourism

RIU Hotels & Resorts is extending its child protection code to the UK, aiming to prevent the sexual exploitation of children and teenagers in tourism. The Balearic hotel chain announced on Tuesday, 29 September, that it had joined The Code UK, an initiative backed by the global ECPAT network.
The move is part of RIU’s Proudly Committed sustainability strategy. It strengthens the rollout of the chain’s child protection policies in Britain, a key source market for tourists. RIU first signed up to the international code of conduct in 2012. It holds the code’s highest distinction, Top Member, in Spain and Mexico, and also applies it in the United States and the Dominican Republic.
