434 rooms: Riu Palace Mexico goes adults-only

RIU Hotels & Resorts reopened the 434-room Riu Palace Mexico in the residential area of Playacar, Quintana Roo, on 21 September as an adults-only hotel. The full refit covers its main facilities, shared spaces, food offering and outdoor areas. Opened in 1999, it was RIU’s first Palace property and now adds the Elite Club luxury service category.

Private pools for Elite Club guests

The hotel has set aside 56 rooms for Elite Club guests, including 30 with private pools. The category also has its own reception, an à la carte restaurant, bar and reserved infinity pool.

Across the resort, there are nine restaurants, six bars and five pools. Guests can also attend themed parties at the neighbouring Riu Tequila.

RIU expands its Quintana Roo presence

RIU runs 15 of its 23 Mexican hotels in Quintana Roo and employs about 8,000 people in the region. The company has 14,000 workers across Mexico.

The reopening follows the recent update of the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancún. RIU is next planning to open the Riu Palace Quintana Roo in Costa Mujeres.
