1,181 rooms renewed and a new focus on families: Balearic hotel group RIU has reopened the Riu Touareg in southern Boa Vista, Cape Verde. The five-star, all-inclusive hotel no longer separates its adult and family areas. Europa Press reported the reopening on 5 October 2026.

Only one quiet pool remains reserved for guests over 18. Every room has new furniture, a refurbished bathroom and updated finishes. The hotel first opened in 2011.

There is more space to eat and relax, too. The Riu Touareg now has six restaurants and nine bars. Its main restaurant is larger, two others have moved to roomier spaces, and an American food restaurant has taken over the former nightclub. The three main pools have been renovated, with larger areas for sun loungers. Children’s areas, the gym and spa have also been updated.

For RIU, the reopening adds to its presence in Cape Verde. The group runs six hotels there, split equally between Boa Vista and the island of Sal, with 4,679 rooms in total.
