Palma, Mallorca: A symbolic handover of robotics equipment for 26 schools across the Balearic Islands is set for Monday, as artificial intelligence joins their projects for the first time. The Endesa Foundation will hold the event at CEIP Escola Graduada in Palma for schools selected for the 12th RetoTech programme. Endesa says more than 1,000 pupils are expected to take part during the 2026–2027 school year.

Working with their teachers, pupils will develop projects using robotics and artificial intelligence to tackle problems at school or in their social surroundings. RetoTech aims to encourage technological enterprise and interest in science, technology, engineering and maths careers.

Mateu Suñer, the Balearic government’s regional secretary for educational development, and Martí Ribas, Endesa’s director in the Balearic Islands, are due to attend Monday’s handover.
