Mallorca: Llucmajor rubbish fee may rise 5% in 2027
In Llucmajor, Mallorca, the rubbish charge could rise 5% in 2027, while a local party demands refunds for 2026 after months when it says collections failed. Llibertat Llucmajor issued the warning on 1 October, after budget documents were discussed at Wednesday’s council meeting. The party says a financial report signed by mayor Xisca Lascolas includes the possible increase.
The report accompanies the council’s 2027 budget plans sent to Spain’s Ministry of Finance. The higher charge has not been approved.
The Ses Badies residents’ association wants the council to examine whether it can refund all or part of the 2026 charge. Llibertat Llucmajor backs the request. It says the mayor and her PP-Vox administration blocked that review after voting against a cut to the charge. The party claims the case for a refund meets legal requirements and puts what it calls unjustified overcharging at two million euros a year.
Party spokesman Alexandro Gaffar says the collection failures and reported hygiene problems have affected people in Llucmajor, s’Arenal and residential developments. The party wants an explanation for the possible rise, details of the 2027 budget and a review of the refund request.
