Mallorca: Gabriel Rufián to campaign in Palma
Mallorca is on Gabriel Rufián’s election trail: he will hold a campaign event in Palma, Mallorca, on 13 November, ahead of Spain’s general election on 29 November. Rufián is the candidate for Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC). The party’s secretary-general and spokesperson, Elisenda Alamany, confirmed the visit on Thursday.
Rufián’s campaign also takes him to Catalonia, Madrid and the Valencia region. ERC has budgeted €2.3 million for this election campaign, up from €1.8 million last time. The party says higher mailing costs and campaign spending in the Balearics and Valencia region are among the reasons for the increase.
One proposal in ERC’s manifesto could matter beyond the campaign: it wants to raise VAT on holiday rentals to 21%. The party has not given a venue or start time for Rufián’s Palma event.
