From 10 November, Ryanair closes airport check-in and bag drop 60 minutes before departure. That gives passengers checking a bag 20 minutes less time to hand it over: the current cut-off is 40 minutes before departure.

Ryanair says the earlier deadline is meant to give passengers more time to get through security and passport queues, reducing the risk of missed flights. The change affects the 20% of its passengers who check bags. For those travelling without checked luggage, the process stays the same.

The airline is also installing self-service bag-drop kiosks linked to its app. Passengers will be able to check bags and print suitcase tags there.
