Mallorca’s protected waters around Sa Dragonera are in focus as local groups set out what a future management plan should cover, from anchoring to diving. They met at the marina in Port d’Andratx, Mallorca, on 22 October for the 15th forum of Xarxa Dragonera Blava. In a workshop, they put forward proposals for the area, designated a Site of Community Importance (LIC).

Boating, water quality, fishing and the scientific studies needed in the area were also discussed. The proposals are intended to be considered as the management plan is drawn up, according to the Save the Med foundation.

Xarxa Dragonera Blava was formed in March 2022 to give people connected to Sa Dragonera and Sant Elm a say in protecting the marine area. More than 165 people have taken part across its 15 forums. The platform says it played a decisive role in boat-speed regulations around Sa Dragonera, which the Balearic regional government adopted in March 2025.
