Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, has a new lead People’s Party candidate for the Senate: Sebastià Sagreras. The party puts him at the top of its island list ahead of 29 November. Party sources confirmed the choice to Europa Press on Friday, 23 October, after a report by Última Hora.

Sagreras is the People’s Party’s spokesman in the Balearic Parliament and coordinates the party across the islands. He was mayor of Campos, on Mallorca, from 2011 to 2019. In a party statement, he thanked Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Marga Prohens for their confidence in him.

Sagreras says he wants the Balearic Islands to have a firm voice in national institutions and for Spain’s next government to address the islands’ needs. He has called for a change of government on 29 November, with policies focused on families, young people and the self-employed. In the Senate, he says, he would defend the islands’ interests.
