Mallorca's s'Albufera Natural Park shut until 2 November
Mallorca's s'Albufera Natural Park stays closed to visitors until 2 November: work on its paths is taking longer than planned. The closure was meant to run from 5 to 18 October, but crews need more time, the Balearic Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment said on 16 October. Keeping the park shut will let the work continue while protecting visitors, the ministry said.
Crews are improving two paths used by routes through the park and working on the open area by its administrative centre. They are also fitting insulating covers to observation posts to prevent high temperatures inside them in summer.
The Balearic government apologised for the extended closure. Even the planned 2 November reopening depends on the weather over the coming weeks.
