Ibiza’s Sant Carles school gets near-€4.4m expansion
Nearly €4.4 million for a school in Santa Eulària des Riu on Ibiza: Sant Carles primary school is getting a new building with a gym, dining hall and library. Balearic minister for education and universities Antoni Vera and mayor Carmen Ferrer laid the foundation stone on 5 October 2026. Work began in July and is expected to take 18 months, the Balearic Ministry of Education and Universities said.
Citanias Obras y Servicios won the building and renovation contract for nearly €4.4 million.
New rooms and easier access
A corridor will link the new building to the existing primary school. Outdoor ramps will make it easier to reach from the playground. The ground floor will hold the gym, dining hall, kitchen and library; upstairs, there will be four classrooms and rooms for smaller groups and other uses.
The existing building will change too. The ground floor will gain offices for school management and administration, while the staff room will move upstairs alongside more rooms for small groups.
More school building on Ibiza
Another school, CEIP es Faralló, is under construction in Santa Eulària des Riu, with a budget of €9.5 million. In Eivissa, the planned IES Can Cantó school is out to tender and would create 690 new school places.
