Formentera housing: 17 homes may be ready by mid-2027
In Sant Ferran, Formentera, 17 subsidised homes could be finished by mid-2027, depending on how building work progresses. Balearic housing minister José Luis Mateo gave that timetable in parliament on 13 October 2026, answering a question from MP Llorenç Córdoba. The homes are being built by the Balearic Housing Institute (Ibavi).
The government has also planned 65 affordable homes for people living on Formentera. The first phase would bring 60 homes to es Pujols. Ibavi currently has 14 public homes on the island.
The Formentera Island Council has begun the process for another five homes, using regional rules that allow buildings to gain extra floors or homes to be divided. Córdoba said housing policy must take account of Formentera’s geography and social circumstances. For the 17 homes in Sant Ferran, the next milestone still rests on the pace of construction.
