Palma puts €67,000 into Sant Sebastià fireworks

Palma, Mallorca, has opened a tender of more than €67,000 for fireworks for its 2027 celebrations. Palma City Council's governing board approved the first contracts for Sant Sebastià on Wednesday, 23 September. They cover stages, children's entertainment and other festival equipment as well as pyrotechnics.

The fireworks are intended for the city's correfocs, fire runs involving pyrotechnics, and other dates in Palma's 2027 calendar. They include the arrival of the Three Kings on 5 January, the Sant Sebastià fogueró bonfire and correfoc at the end of January, the Sant Joan correfoc on 23 June and Nit de les Ànimes in early November.

Preparations for Sant Sebastià itself are split into three contracts. One covers stages and installations in Plaça de Joan Carles I and Plaça de la Reina; another is for Plaça d'Espanya. The third covers Plaça Major and equipment needed in Plaça de Cort.

Sant Sebastià Petit is scheduled for Sunday 10 January 2027 at Parc de Sa Riera. Sa Rueta is due to follow on Saturday 6 February at several locations in central Palma.

The council plans separate contracts for children's music, stage shows and circus acts. The programme includes live music, minidiscos, costume parades, storytellers, puppets, theatre, clowns, magic, juggling, acrobatics and trapeze performances. Further contracts cover games, workshops, activities for children aged up to three and a climbing wall.

Elsewhere, council spokeswoman Mercedes Celeste said the zip line removed from the park at Castell de Bellver will not, for now, be rebuilt elsewhere. Once current work is complete, the council will assess whether leisure facilities could fit at another city site. The removed picnic tables will not be relocated.
