Mallorca’s Santa Maria train platforms set for revamp
Mallorca’s Santa Maria del Camí railway station is in line for a platform revamp: the Balearic government approved the project on Friday, 6 November 2026. The work is planned so that some train services can continue while it takes place. Rail operator Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca can now begin the steps needed to contract the work.
The plans call for new platform surfaces, improved barriers and replacement furniture. Structural parts will be renewed where needed, and the platforms’ dimensions will be adjusted to meet the needs of rail traffic. The aim is to make the station easier and safer for passengers to use, government spokesman Antoni Costa said.
The project is designed to limit disruption to passengers. The approval also declares the work to be in the public interest and provides for the urgent occupation of affected land, which will be used temporarily during construction.
