Mallorca 2020 school pay dispute goes to Tamib

USO has taken Mallorca’s dispute over 2020 economic rights for concertada school staff to the Balearic Islands Arbitration and Mediation Tribunal, known as Tamib, in Palma on 15 September. The union says the Balearic Education and Universities Ministry has failed to keep commitments it made to the workers. It wants the financial recovery put into effect.

USO is also demanding clarity on who qualifies, how the sums will be calculated and when payments will be made. The union says meaningful negotiations are impossible if agreements can later be left without effect.

Juan Carlos Lorenzo, secretary of USO’s Balearic teaching federation, said the time for promises was over. He said the union would use every trade-union and legal route available, and would continue the collective dispute if Tamib does not produce a solution.

USO says it had already filed a claim over commitments negotiated and ratified by the Govern. A Consell de Govern agreement of 17 April 2026 said the recovery for 2020 should be made on the same terms as in public education, following negotiations, with implementation set between the second and third quarters of 2026.
