Mallorca school pay row: union calls Palma protest
Mallorca’s school pay row is heading to parliament: the USO union has called a protest outside the building in Palma, Mallorca, at 10.00 on Tuesday, 13 October. It wants the Department of Education and Universities to honour pay agreements for staff at state-subsidised schools, known locally as concertada schools.
At the centre of the dispute is a Governing Council agreement of 17 April 2026 on financial recovery for those staff. USO says the administration has failed to act and has taken the matter to the Arbitration and Mediation Tribunal, a step before a collective labour dispute.
The union says the push to bring teachers’ working conditions at these schools into line with those at state schools is backed by the legal framework and commitments the administration has already made.
