Balearic schools: 5,851 one-to-one psychology interventions
Across Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands, psychologists provided 5,851 one-to-one interventions in secondary schools during the 2024-2025 school year. Of these, 3,519 involved pupils. The average age of those helped was 14, according to figures published by the Balearic Islands Education Department.
Anxiety symptoms, family problems and difficulties in relationships were the main reasons people sought help. Psychologists also carried out 1,486 group interventions and made 1,148 referrals or arrangements with other services during the same school year.
On Friday, 9 October, ahead of World Mental Health Day, the Balearic Islands College of Psychology said schools, families and social relationships can help spot difficulties early and make it easier for young people to get help. It called for more resources and better coordination between services so that support can continue when a young person needs it.
