Palma school supplies drive: 54kg helps families
Notebooks, pencils and backpacks have reached three schools in Pere Garau, Palma, after a 54kg school supplies drive aimed at children from families facing financial difficulties.
The Pere Garau Community Intervention Project, Pere Garau Saludable association and second-hand shop LUP Tenda de 2a mà collected the material and distributed it to Sant Francesc d’Assís, Jafudà Cresques and Son Canals schools. The haul also included pens, folders, felt-tip pens and other basic items.
The groups said on Friday, 18 September, that neighbours had backed the campaign without expecting anything in return. Its aim is to ease the costs many families face at the start of the school year and help give children equal opportunities.
Organisers said the response showed the strength of Pere Garau’s community support network, with local organisations committed to social cohesion and mutual help.
