Mallorca’s schools reopen on Tuesday, 20 October, after Monday’s weather-related closure, but a yellow warning remains in place until noon. Classes also resume on Ibiza and Formentera. The Balearic regional government says lessons will run as normal and asks families and school communities to check messages from their schools and official channels.

The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) keeps its yellow warning in place on Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera until 12.00 on Tuesday. On Menorca, the warning runs from 03.00 to 18.00. Aemet forecasts up to 30 litres of rain per square metre in an hour and rates the danger across the islands as low.

The warning has not ruled out heavier weather. Aemet says heavy or very heavy rain and occasional very strong wind gusts remain possible, most likely on Monday night and early Tuesday.
